Charles Barker died from wounds on 25th April, 1915, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 3rd Royal Fusiliers battalion was part of 85 Brigade, 28th Division, that had been in action that month during the Second Battle of Ypres when the enemy used gas for the first time to try to break the line in the northern part of the Ypres salient.
